Privacy Policy
Last updated September 14, 2026
This policy explains what information Wells Software Consulting LLC collects, why we collect it, and the choices you have. It covers this website and the mobile and web applications we publish under our own name.
1. Who we are
Wells Software Consulting LLC (“Wells”, “we”, “us”) is a software consultancy in the United States. For questions about this policy or about data we hold, contact hello@wellsconsulting.com.
Where we build and operate software on behalf of a client, that client is the data controller and their privacy policy governs. We act as a processor under their instructions. This policy covers only the data we control ourselves.
2. Information we collect
Information you give us
- Contact and enquiry details — name, email address, company, budget range, and whatever you write in the message field when you use our contact form or email us.
- Support requests — the content of messages you send to our support address, including any files you attach.
- Client engagement records — the contact details and correspondence needed to deliver and invoice a project.
Information collected automatically
- Server and delivery logs — IP address, user agent, requested URL, and timestamp, recorded by our hosting and CDN providers for security and reliability. These are retained on the provider's standard schedule.
No advertising or cross-site tracking. This website sets no advertising cookies, runs no third-party analytics, and does not sell or share personal information for targeted advertising as those terms are defined under the CCPA/CPRA.
Information in our applications
Applications we publish under our own name disclose their data practices in their store listings and in-app. Where an app collects data, it is limited to what the feature requires, and the store listing's privacy label reflects it. Apps we build for clients are governed by the client's policy.
3. How we use information
| Purpose | Data used | Legal basis (UK/EU) |
|---|---|---|
| Responding to enquiries and support requests | Contact details, message content | Legitimate interests; steps prior to a contract |
| Delivering contracted work and invoicing | Engagement records | Performance of a contract |
| Securing and operating our services | Server and delivery logs | Legitimate interests |
| Meeting legal, tax, and accounting obligations | Engagement and billing records | Legal obligation |
We do not use your information to train machine-learning models, and we do not sell it.
4. Service providers
We rely on a small set of vendors to run the business. Each receives only the data needed for its function and is bound by contract to protect it:
- Google Cloud / Firebase Hosting — website hosting and delivery logs.
- Cloudflare — DNS and network protection.
- Email and productivity providers — correspondence and document storage.
- Form delivery and scheduling services — where used, to route enquiries and bookings to us.
5. Retention
- Enquiries that do not become engagements: deleted within 24 months.
- Client engagement and billing records: retained for 7 years to meet tax and accounting requirements.
- Server and delivery logs: retained on our providers' standard schedules, typically 30–90 days.
6. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or obtain a portable copy of your personal information; to object to or restrict certain processing; and to be free from discrimination for exercising these rights. Residents of California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, and other US states with comprehensive privacy laws, and individuals in the UK and EEA, have these rights under their respective laws.
To make a request, email support@wellsconsulting.com. We will verify your identity and respond within 45 days (or one month in the UK/EEA), and will tell you if we need an extension. You may use an authorised agent. There is no charge for a reasonable request.
7. Children
Our website and services are directed at businesses and are not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
8. International transfers
We operate from the United States and our providers may process data there. Where we receive personal data from the UK or EEA, transfers are made under the Standard Contractual Clauses or another approved mechanism.
9. Security
We use encryption in transit (TLS), multi-factor authentication on our accounts, least-privilege access, and encrypted storage for client material. No system is perfectly secure, but we treat security failures as engineering failures and handle them that way.
10. Changes
We will update this page when our practices change and revise the “last updated” date above. Material changes affecting existing clients will be communicated directly.
